MTBVT Holiday Gift Guide- Part 1, Matt’s List

Behind the ball on Christmas shopping?  So are we- shocking I’m sure.  Here is part one of our staff favorites.

Syncros FL 1.0 Carbon 15Rise bars

After a few years of neglect Syncros has again resurfaced as Scott Sports’ house component line.  Their carbon bars are available in multiple widths and feature a relatively unique 6 degree tip or upward sweep with a 9 degree back sweep.  A neutral graphics package and UD carbon finish round out the package.

Kali Avita Texalium helmet

The new wave of trail/All Mountain helmets have been pushing the envelope in terms of overall coverage, breathability and more importantly impact absorption.  Among this group is the Kali Avita Telexium which offers standard coverage and the best ventilation of any helmet in this category.  It’s also notably less Ikea-looking than other models in this segment.

J Bailey Brand Super Pista Cycling Cap

If you consider yourself any kind of two wheeled afficionado then you need a good cycling cap and there’s none better than the J Bailey.  Handmade in Portland, Oregon and available in several colors, materials and sizes it’s the best fitting and most comfortable cycling cap I’ve ever owned.

Fox Float 32

Suspension forks are always being updated to be lighter, stiffer, and better-er than the previous year’s variant so it’s difficult to tell where the marketing ends and real performance begins.  Fortunately Fox nailed the 2014 CTD damper after a woeful showing with the 2013 models.  The Float 32 offers several different travel options and puts Fox back in the fight in the 29” wheel XC race segment with stable handling and predictable damping in a 3.5 lb package.

Bulleit Rye Whiskey

Because some days just suck, and if you’re going to drink you might as well drink something of quality.  In addition to their well known bourbon, Bulleit offers one of the smoothest rye whiskeys on the market today.
