Help Us Save Cady Hill!

Stowe Land Trust and its partners are facing the ambitious challenge of raising $450,000 by May 30th to conserve nearly 260 acres of land in Stowe with a prized 11-mile network of existing multi-use trails. Located in the heart of Stowe Village (portions of the trails are known as the Town Loops), Cady Hill Forest will provide public access for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Once conserved, ownership of Cady Hill Forest will be transferred to the Town of Stowe with the Stowe Mountain Bike Club serving as trail managers. Cady Hill Forest is an essential component and anchor for the Vermont Ride Center – an initiative of the Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA) to develop a cohesive 50-mile trail network with a variety of ability levels in the Stowe-Waterbury area.

The total cost to conserve Cady Hill Forest is $1,565,000. Thanks to a generous state grant, an allocation from the Town of Stowe and private foundation support, SLT has raised $1,100,000. We are close, but we aren’t there yet and we can’t get there without your help. You represent Vermont’s outdoor enthusiasts, those who already love Cady Hill Forest and those who will only have the chance to love it if access is permanently protected.

Stowe Land Trust has set up a new website www.cadyhillforest.com and a facebook page www.facebook.com/cadyhillforest to share the story of Cady Hill Forest and we are sending out regular press releases with progress updates, but we need your help spreading the word and encouraging fellow outdoor enthusiasts to support this project. Below are some ways we have made it easy for you to help us meet our goal:

1. Follow the Cady Hill Forest project on facebook and encourage others to “Like” Cady Hill Forest. http://www.facebook.com/CadyHillForest

2. Share the Cady Hill Forest story by linking to www.cadyhillforest.com.

3. Include information from our press releases (emailed to you weekly by SLT) in your enewsletters, blogs, facebook and other emedia.

4. Every gift, no matter the size, will get us closer to permanent access to this great trail network. Consider sending a check to Stowe Land Trust PO Box 284 Stowe, VT 05672 or visit www.cadyhillforest.com.

Thanks a lot for your help! I want to reiterate what an important role you play in our ability to successfully protect this amazing recreational resource. Without your help reaching out to the people who care about access to trails, we might not be able to complete this project in the two months we have left. If you have questions or ideas feel free to contact me by email or phone. If you would prefer not to get regular updates on the status of this project, please let me know.
