So how’d you get hooked on mountain biking?
During middle school we had to complete a certain amount of community service per year and with spring approaching and me of course having none my Dad pushed a reluctant me to go help dig the new bike park in town. After that first day I don’t think a single free moment of my childhood was spent without a bike or a shovel in my hand.
Who or what inspires your racing and style?
People that have influenced my bike style have always been the people I have ridden with the most. On my downhill bike I think my two teammates Gavin Vaughn and Tim White are polar opposites (smooth and smash) and I’d say I fall somewhere in-between. As well on my dirt jumper I’d say Jay Knecht and Hardy Avery have influenced how I ride jumps.
A lot of inspiration for me comes out of my own racing. Losing, or not having that perfect run every time motivates me more than anything. Also Matt Hoffman has been one of my favorite individuals since I was real little and anything from that guy gets me so stoked to go do what ever it is I have to do at 200%!
Whatcha got cookin’ for the future?
Hmm… I would say the curve of my success in racing is perfect. If I can keep on getting faster at this rate I have no problem saying you will be seeing me racing a full world cup season no more than 3 years from now. Other than bike racing, I would like to get better at riding my moto and start doing races here and there.
Who’s behind the scenes supporting your biking habit?
Jeez thats one BIG list. The Stowe mtb community (Iride, Jay, Sue, Hardy, etc – you guys know who you are), Team Voncooper, there is far too many to list at one time.
