Vermont local Brendan James has spent the better part of 10 years traveling Central and South America by bicycle. Recently Brendan has settled down in Guatemala “the land of eternal spring” and a place he calls Mountain Bike Paradise. Join him September 20th at 6:30pm Bicycle Express in Waterbury as he shares photos from the country including its vibrant indigenous culture and growing mountain bike scene there. This is a free event open to all. Guatemala is home to incredible cultural and biodiversity: two oceans, 14,000ft active volcanoes and over 20 native languages make for a country that is far from ordinary. Mountain bikers here are repurposing ancient Mayan footpaths and agricultural trails to connect a country where many of it’s people still live off the map.
** Although the topic is mountain biking – the show will feature quite a bit of informative information about Guatemala, it’s people and indigenous culture.
