Mountain Bike Vermont and AllezY.net are proud to announce the return of Le Grand Fat Tour for winter 2014-2015. Spanning the Quebec-Vermont border, our collaboration will promote winter cycling with a six event series. The tour takes place from December until March with events held in Burlington,Stowe and East Burke, Vermont, Coaticook, Bromont, and Oka, Quebec.

New for 2014/2015 is the addition of a Global Fatbike Day event. Presented by the Fellowship of the Wheel and hosted at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center near Burlington, Global Fatbike Day will kick off series in customary Le Grand Fat Tour style!

Also new this year, Oka will be joining the tour for one of the Québec dates. We are excited about bringing a fat bike festival to one of Québec’s most energetic national park for the first time.

Our goal is to encourage winter cycling, introduce riders to fat bikes, and strengthen our cycling community. Each event will promote local cycling clubs, trails, merchants and products while unifying the greater regional riding community.

“We’re offering the opportunity for everyone to become acquainted with winter cycling.” Says Grand Fat co-founder David Lauzon. “After witnessing the outstanding success of independent events in Vermont and Quebec we were inspired to nurture the scene on a larger scale. The more fat bikers the merrier!”

Le Grand Fat Tour promotes sustainable trail networks and is the catalyst many clubs need to activate a winter riding program. It’s also a great opportunity to educate and entertain the pedaling public.

Each venue will promote regional flavor and activities including:

– Free fat bike demos
– Group rides for all ability levels
– Local food and drink
– A semi-competitive race for all levels of riders

The 6 venues are located in the Northeast’s pioneering networks:

Dec 6th – Catamount Outdoor Family Center – Williston, VT

Jan 3rd – Überwintern – Stowe, VT

Jan 17th – Le VéloNeige de Coaticook – Coaticook, QC

Jan 31st – Le Jour de la Marmotte – Bromont, QC

Feb 15th – Oka Festival – Oka, QC

Feb 27th – Mar 1st Winterbike – East Burke, VT
