What do you most look forward to this summer? Is it escaping the cold and wet winter we have had this year? Or is it the ice cold beer, cider, wine – hell,even water – after a long hard ride? Or is it getting out on a bicycle with some great friends laughing and connecting with one another that is totally unique to cycling!
We cannot wait for this seemingly never ending winter to come to a close, and in the spirit of summertime fun on two wheels, we have the perfect way to kick those winter blues! Our Gravel & Gastronomy event on June 2nd, starting on the beautiful Darling Hill Ridge in Lyndonville, VT, will (un)officially be our SUMMER 2018 KICK OFF event! This is a gravel event that takes you on a beautiful journey through the tranquil and serene landscape of the Northeast Kingdom, complimented by local and delicious food and beverages on both ends of the ride.
The morning will start at the Kingdom Cycling & Experiences Trailside office (doors open at 8) where there will be energizing local pastries from Aunt Dee Dee’s bakery and coffee from The Hub Brew Counter.
You will leave (roughly around 9am) from The Junction Cycling Hub right at the heart of Kingdom Trails where you will head out on an ability appropriate, guided ride. We have routes for beginners (~15 miles) to advanced (~30 miles) and even something for the kids, too! This event is focused on inclusivity and fun for all. The rides will be lead by one of Kingdom Cycling & Experiences certified instructor guides ( 1 instructor per 5 person group max), who will also be available to answer any questions you may have about dirt road riding or the area.
When you return, the Spoke Easy Bar at the Wildflower Inn will be providing local award winning cheese, charcuterie, lunch and an assortment of beverages.
If you want to keep the party going into the evening there is a Farm-to-Table dinner being held at Junipers Restaurant that you can purchase for an additional $40.
