Hello Fat Bikers!
we are still on for tomorrow having dodged a snowy bullet. We received 2 to 4″ of dry powder that will be packed in today. All rides will now depart at 9:00 to allow temps to come up a bit early on. Registration will be open from 8:15 to 9:00. a full schedule is below.
MTBVT’s fat tired snowbike shenanigans continue for 2014, it’s time to fuel our bike starved souls and play on two wheels!
We have partnered with the Stowe Mountain Bike Club to offer a day of fat-tired bike revelry on powder packed singletrack. On Saturday January 4th, 2014 we will be gathering in Stowe early in the day to lead a charge against Old Man Winter. Join us for group rides, demos, a fatbike mini-enduro race, lunch, and hearty brews.
“Now in its second year, Überwintern plays host to those brave enough to keep charging on two wheels in the depth of winter. We couldn’t be more stoked!” says event co-organizer Jon Severinghaus of MTBVT. “As fat biker it’s a privilege to add a little MTBVT flair to the fat bike phenomenon! ” says MTBVT co-founder Ryan Thibault.
New for 2014, Überwintern is part of the five stop “Le Grand Fat Tour“, and will host the “Uberscramble Fatbike Race” for prizes and pride. On site demos provided by iRide, The Old Spokes Home & Chuck’s Bikes, lunch with meat and veggie options, and beverages are included in the ticket price (free beer!). Pump up those tires and we’ll see you on the trails!

Will there be rentals available?
Donny, there won’t be but East Burke Sports and Village Sports in Lyndonville should have rentals available that day. If you want a bike for the full day reach out to them. Otherwise you should be able to get in a few laps on different demo bikes.
Are you out of shirts, is that why the ticket item is not available?
Hey Peter, we printed a few extras for sale at the event. Hope to see you there and Happy New Year!
We will have shirts for sale at the venue. Grab one early as the supply is limited.
Hey there,
A dump tonight/tomorrow
Will the event be canceled with all the fresh pow?
As of right now things are looking perfect. There is a little snow anticipated but the trails are in such good shape that we should be fine to do a quick packing session Friday before the event. If we get the blizzard of ’14 we’ll refund everybody and just sit on a snowbank with our kegs 🙂
Wow, this sounds like a really good time! I just might have to head up there on Friday after work!
what is the best tire to ride there, surly bud and lou 4.8 or 45nrth huskerdu 4.0 ?? really hard pack or soft snow
Hi Christian, the conditions are in flux today. We are seeing some snow and I anticipate that we’ll have packed pow on Saturday. Personally, our entire crew feel that the wider the tire the better. I run two Surly 4.8’s and have been loving them. Go big!
